The Cisco Catalyst C9200L-48P-4X-E is a fixed-configuration Layer 3 access switch designed for enterprise campus and branch deployments requiring high-density PoE. With 48 Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ ports delivering 740W of power, four 10 Gigabit SFP+ uplinks, and StackWise-80 technology supporting up to 8 switches in a stack, it provides enterprise-grade performance and resiliency. Q: What is the difference between Network Essentials and Network Advantage licenses?
A: Network Essentials provides core Layer 2 switching and basic Layer 3 routing including static routes, RIP, EIGRP stub, and OSPF with up to 1000 routes. Network Advantage adds advanced routing, full OSPF/EIGRP, policy-based routing, advanced QoS, and enhanced security features. For standard campus access deployments, Network Essentials is typically sufficient.

Q: Can this switch be stacked with other Catalyst 9200 models?
A: The C9200L-48P-4X-E can only be stacked with other C9200L series switches that have the same license level (Network Essentials). Mixed stacking with modular C9200 SKUs or other Catalyst switch series is not supported. Up to 8 switches can be stacked using the optional C9200L-STACK-KIT, providing 80 Gbps of bidirectional stacking bandwidth.

Q: How many devices can I power with the default 740W PoE budget?
A: With 740W of PoE budget and IEEE 802.3at PoE+ support (up to 30W per port), you can power approximately 24 devices simultaneously at full 30W per port. The actual number depends on the power requirements of your connected devices. Adding a second PSU increases the budget to 1440W, enabling full PoE+ power across all 48 ports.

Q: Does this model support Cisco DNA licensing?
A: Yes, the C9200L-48P-4X-E supports Cisco DNA licensing, which is required for advanced automation and assurance features. DNA subscriptions (Essentials, Advantage, or Premier) are purchased separately and provide access to Cisco DNA Center for network automation, analytics, and Software-Defined Access capabilities.

Q: What SFP+ transceivers are compatible with the 10G uplinks?
A: The four 10G SFP+ uplinks support standard Cisco SFP+ transceivers including SFP-10G-SR (multimode), SFP-10G-LR (single-mode), SFP-10G-LRM, and Cisco Twinax/DAC cables.
