FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the 8 mGig ports and the 16 standard ports?
A: The 8 multi-gigabit (mGig) ports support auto-negotiation at 100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G speeds, making them ideal for high-bandwidth devices like Wi-Fi 6/6E access points. The remaining 16 ports are standard 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet ports suitable for general network devices.

Q: Can I increase the PoE power budget beyond 370W?
A: Yes, by adding a second PWR-C5-600WAC power supply, you can increase the total PoE budget to 740W. The switch supports dual redundant power supplies for both increased PoE capacity and power redundancy.

Q: Can this switch be stacked with other Catalyst 9200 models?
A: The C9200L-24PXG-2Y-E can be stacked only with other C9200L fixed models using the C9200L-STACK-KIT, supporting up to 8 members with 80 Gbps stacking bandwidth. It cannot be stacked with modular C9200 or C9200CX models, or older Catalyst 2960-X/XR series switches.

Q: What license level comes with the -E suffix model?
A: The -E suffix indicates the Network Essentials license tier, which provides Layer 2 switching and basic Layer 3 routing features. For advanced features like OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, and full Layer 3 routing, you would need to upgrade to Network Advantage or Network Premier licenses.

Q: Is this switch compatible with Cisco DNA Center?
A: Yes, the C9200L-24PXG-2Y-E is fully compatible with Cisco DNA Center for centralized network automation, analytics, and assurance. It can also be migrated to a Meraki-managed persona for cloud-based management through the Meraki Dashboard.
