Description

The Cisco Catalyst 9200L C9200L-24P-4X-E is a compact enterprise access switch designed for branch offices and campus deployments requiring high-speed uplinks and reliable Power over Ethernet. Featuring 24 Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ ports with a 370W power budget and four fixed 10G SFP+ uplinks, this Layer 3 managed switch delivers exceptional performance with 128 Gbps switching capacity and 95.23 Mpps forwarding rate. Running Cisco IOS XE with the Network Essentials license, it provides foundational Layer 3 routing, MACsec encryption, and support for StackWise-80 stacking technology.

Features

Layer 3 routing: Static routing, RIP v1/v2, RIPng, OSPF (Routed Access) with Network Essentials
- Security: MACsec AES-128 encryption, Secure Boot with Trust Anchor, IEEE 802.1X authentication, DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection, IP Source Guard
- Quality of Service (QoS): 8 hardware queues per port, configurable policy-based QoS, traffic classification and prioritization
- Resiliency: Dual field-replaceable power supply slots, fixed redundant fans, sub-50ms StackWise failover
- StackWise-80 technology: 80 Gbps bidirectional stacking bandwidth, stateful switchover, single-IP management
- VLAN support: 4,094 VLAN IDs, 512 SVIs, IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging
- Multicast: PIM sparse mode (PIM-SM), Source-Specific Multicast (SSM), IGMP snooping, 1,000 multicast routing entries
- Flexible NetFlow (FNF): 16,000 flow entries for traffic analysis and monitoring
- IPv6 support: Dual-stack IPv4/IPv6, OSPFv3, EIGRPv6, 1,500 IPv6 routing entries
- Programmability: Cisco IOS XE with model-driven APIs (YANG), streaming telemetry, NETCONF, RESTCONF
- Zero-touch provisioning: Cisco Plug-and-Play for automated deployment
- Energy efficiency: IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) compliant

FAQs

Q: What is the difference between Network Essentials and Network Advantage licenses?
A: Network Essentials includes foundational Layer 3 routing protocols (OSPF Routed Access, RIP), basic security features like MACsec encryption, and support for one virtual network. Network Advantage adds advanced routing protocols (full OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS), enhanced QoS, and automation capabilities via Cisco DNA Center.

Q: Can this switch power Wi-Fi 6 access points?
A: Yes, the C9200L-24P-4X-E provides up to 30W per port via PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at), sufficient for most Wi-Fi 6 access points. With a 370W total budget (single PSU), it can power up to 12 Class 4 devices simultaneously or 24 Class 3 devices. For higher PoE requirements, a second PWR-C5-600WAC can be added for 740W total capacity.

Q: Is stacking supported and how many switches can be stacked?
A: Yes, the switch supports Cisco StackWise-80 technology with 80 Gbps stacking bandwidth. Up to 8 Catalyst 9200L switches with the same license level can be stacked and managed as a single logical unit. Stacking requires the C9200L-STACK-KIT accessory (sold separately).

Q: What are the typical use cases for this switch?
A: Ideal for branch offices, small to medium-sized enterprise campus access layers, wireless backhaul aggregation for Wi-Fi 6 deployments, IP telephony networks, and IP camera surveillance systems. The 10G uplinks ensure high-speed connectivity to distribution or core layers without bottlenecks.

Q: Does this switch support SD-Access and Cisco DNA Center?
A: The switch supports one virtual network for basic segmentation and integrates with Cisco DNA Center for simplified provisioning, monitoring, and automation. However, the C9200L series does not support embedded wireless controller functionality or full SD-Access fabric capabilities.
