FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the C9200CX-8P-2XGH-E and C9200CX-8P-2X2G-E?
A: The C9200CX-8P-2XGH-E includes an internal HVDC/AC power supply supporting both high-voltage DC and AC power sources, making it ideal for DC micro-grid deployments. The C9200CX-8P-2X2G-E has a standard AC-only internal power supply. Both models have identical port configurations and 240W PoE budgets.

Q: Can this switch be used in noise-sensitive environments?
A: Yes, the C9200CX-8P-2XGH-E is fanless and operates silently, making it perfect for retail stores, hospitality environments, small offices, industrial control rooms, and other locations where fan noise is not acceptable.

Q: Does the Network Essentials license support Layer 3 routing?
A: The Network Essentials license provides core Layer 2 features including VLANs, STP, QoS, and NetFlow analytics, along with limited Layer 3 capabilities (static routing, 14,000 IPv4 routes). For full dynamic routing protocols like OSPF and EIGRP, upgrade to the Network Advantage license.

Q: What are the HVDC power requirements for this switch?
A: The switch supports high-voltage DC (HVDC) power input as well as standard AC power. For HVDC installations, customers or system integrators are responsible for providing appropriate DC power cables and connectors, as these deployments typically use customized cabling for DC micro-grid infrastructure. Consult with Cisco or your integrator for specific HVDC voltage requirements.

Q: Can this switch be stacked with other Catalyst 9200 Series models?
A: No, the C9200CX Series does not support stacking. It is designed as a standalone compact access switch. If stacking is required, consider the Catalyst 9200 or 9200L Series models which support StackWise technology.
