Description

The Aruba 2530 48 PoE+ is a fully managed Layer 2 access switch from the Aruba 2530 Switch Series. It suits enterprise edge, branch office and SMB access-layer deployments that need PoE+ power for IP phones, video cameras and wireless access points.

It provides 48 autosensing 10/100 PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) RJ-45 ports with a 382 W total PoE budget. Uplinks are two autosensing 10/100/1000 RJ-45 ports and two fixed Gigabit SFP ports. Switching capacity is 17.6 Gbps with throughput of up to 13 Mpps, backed by 256 MB DDR3 memory and 128 MB flash. The switch runs without a subscription, as its software features are included with the hardware.

It mounts in a 19-inch rack at 1U, or on a wall or horizontal surface, and supports virtual stacking of up to 16 switches. It can be managed through Aruba Central, AirWave or ClearPass Policy Manager, as well as the web interface, CLI and SNMP.

FAQs

Q: Does the J9778A need a licence or subscription?
A: No. Switch software features are included with the hardware and there are no separate licence tiers. Optional management platforms such as Aruba Central, AirWave and ClearPass are separate.

Q: How much PoE power does it provide?
A: It has a 382 W total PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) budget shared across the 48 PoE ports. The budget is the total available, so it is not 30 W on every port at the same time.

Q: Which SFP modules work in the fixed SFP ports?
A: SFPs used in the two fixed Gigabit SFP ports must be revision B or later, for example J4858B or J4859C.

Q: Can it be stacked?
A: Yes. It supports virtual stacking of up to 16 switches so a group can be managed as one unit.

Q: What management options are available?
A: You can manage it through Aruba Central, AirWave, IMC, the web interface, the CLI or SNMP, with a serial console over RJ-45 or micro USB. It also integrates with ClearPass Policy Manager.
