Description

The Arista 7020R series switch is a 1RU data centre switch built for dedicated server leaf, hyper-converged infrastructure and edge roles that need 10G server connections with 100G uplinks. The "G" model adds hardware IPSec, which suits site-to-site VPN and data centre interconnect to a POP or backup data centre.

It provides 24 x 1/10GbE SFP+ ports and 2 x 100G QSFP100 ports, with up to 880 Gbps of throughput, 300 Mpps forwarding and a 3 GB deep packet buffer. Hardware IPSec delivers 20 Gbps across 98 tunnels using AES128/AES256 encryption and SHA1/SHA256 integrity. This SKU is configured for rear-to-front airflow and includes dual 1+1 hot-swap AC power supplies with C13-C14 power cords. Typical power draw is 95 W and maximum draw is 105 W.

The SFP+ ports accept 1G and 10G optics and cables, while the QSFP100 ports accept 100G and 40G optics and cables, with breakout to 4x10G or 4x25G. It runs Arista EOS 4.22.0 or later and integrates with CloudVision. IPSec is an EOS licensed feature that requires a licence file to enable.

Q: Does the IPSec feature need a licence?
A: IPSec encryption is an Arista EOS licensed feature that needs a licence file to enable it. The spare licence option is LIC-FIX-1-IPSEC. This switch uses the Group 1 EOS feature licence set.

Q: What power supplies does this SKU use?
A: It uses two PWR-500AC supplies (100-240 V AC, 50/60 Hz, IEC C13 inlet) in a 1+1 hot-swap configuration. Typical draw is 95 W and maximum draw is 105 W.

Q: What optics and cables work in the ports?
A: The SFP+ ports take 1GbE SX/LX and 100/1000BASE-T modules plus 10GBASE-CR, AOC, SR, LR, ER, ZR and DWDM options. The QSFP100 ports take 100GBASE-SR4, LR4, CWDM4, PSM4, AOC and CR4 options, and also 40G QSFP+ optics and cables.

Q: Can the 100G ports be broken out?
A: Yes. The QSFP100 ports support 4x10G breakout via QSFP+ to 4xSFP+ cables and 4x25G breakout via QSFP to SFP25 cables.

Q: Which airflow direction does this model use?
A: This SKU is configured for rear-to-front airflow with FAN-7000-R fans. The platform supports reversible airflow, so the airflow direction should match your rack layout.
