FAQs

Q: Does this switch require a Meraki license to operate?
A: Yes, the MS150-24P-4G requires either an Enterprise or Advanced tier Meraki license for cloud management and operation. The license is sold separately and available in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 10-year terms. All MS150 switches in an organization must use the same license tier.

Q: How many switches can be stacked together?
A: Up to 8 MS150 switches can be stacked together using the two dedicated rear stacking ports. The stacking provides 80 Gbps of bandwidth and allows all stacked units to be managed as a single logical switch for simplified configuration and redundancy.

Q: What PoE devices can this switch power?
A: The MS150-24P-4G provides 802.3af/at PoE+ with up to 30W per port and a 370W total budget, making it suitable for powering Wi-Fi 6/6E/7 access points, VoIP phones, IP cameras, and most IoT devices. Dynamic power allocation optimizes power distribution across all connected devices.

Q: Can I mix MS150-24P-4G with other Meraki switch models in a stack?
A: No, the MS150 series uses dedicated backplane stacking and cannot be stacked with other Meraki switch families. However, MS150 switches can coexist in the same network and be managed through the same Meraki Dashboard as other Meraki switches.

Q: What is the difference between Enterprise and Advanced licensing for the MS150?
A: Both license tiers provide core Layer 2 switching, cloud management, and automatic firmware updates. The Advanced license adds capabilities like Adaptive Policy for granular network segmentation. All MS150 switches in a co-term organization must use the same license tier.
