Description

The C8355-G2-MX is a cloud-managed Cisco Secure Router from the Meraki MX range, built for large branch sites that need Security and SD-WAN in one appliance. It combines next-generation firewall services, site-to-site VPN and high-speed branch connectivity, all managed through the Meraki dashboard with minimal pre-configuration at the remote site.

On the numbers, it delivers up to 10 Gbps of next-generation firewall throughput, 5 Gbps of site-to-site VPN throughput and 4 Gbps of advanced security throughput. Connectivity includes 2x 10G SFP+ WAN ports and 2x 10G SFP+ LAN ports, with LAN/WAN port conversion allowing up to 3 WAN links in Multi-WAN mode. The LAN side adds 4x 5 Gbps mGig RJ45 ports with UPoE+ and 2x 1 Gbps RJ45 ports, plus dedicated console and management ports. It is recommended for up to 5,000 devices and 1,500 tunnels, and requires a Meraki MX / Secure SD-WAN licence to operate on the dashboard.

The SFP+ ports accept the Meraki optics MA-SFP-10GB-SR, -LR, -LRM and -ER, MA-SFP-1GB-TX and MA-SFP-1GB-LX10, and the MA-CBL-TA-1M and MA-CBL-TA-3M twinax cables on 10G ports.

Q: Does the C8355-G2-MX need a licence?
A: Yes. It requires a Meraki MX / Secure SD-WAN licence, which is a Meraki cloud subscription, to operate and be managed through the Meraki dashboard.

Q: Which optics and cables work in the SFP+ ports?
A: The SFP+ ports support MA-SFP-10GB-SR, -LR, -LRM and -ER. MA-SFP-1GB-TX and MA-SFP-1GB-LX10 are supported at both 10G and 1G port speeds. Twinax cables MA-CBL-TA-1M and MA-CBL-TA-3M are supported on the 10G ports.

Q: Can I run more than two WAN links?
A: Yes. In Multi-WAN mode, LAN/WAN port conversion on the SFP+ ports allows up to 3 WAN connections.

Q: Can I claim it on my Meraki dashboard?
A: Yes. Every Meraki device XS Network Tech supplies can be claimed on your Meraki dashboard.

Q: Does it support PoE on the mGig ports?
A: The 4x 5 Gbps mGig RJ45 LAN ports support UPoE+. UPoE and PoE support is due in a later 26.2 release, and an optional 230W power upgrade is available.
