Description

The Cisco 8711-28H8F-M is a 1RU router from the Cisco 8700 series, built on Cisco Silicon One and running Cisco IOS XR. It is aimed at business edge, residential aggregation, 5G mobile backhaul, provider core and internet peering in metro aggregation and edge networks.

This variant provides 28 QSFP28 100G ports and 8 QSFP56-DD 400G ports, with breakout support (4x100G, 2x100G, 4x25G and 4x10G) allowing up to 60 x 100G interfaces. System throughput reaches 6.0 Tbps. An 8-core x86 route processor with 64GB DRAM and a 480GB SSD handles control plane and application hosting duties, and full line-rate LAN MACsec encryption is available on all ports. Timing is covered by PTP with Class C performance, SyncE and GNSS inputs including 1pps, 10MHz and 1588-TOD.

The chassis takes QSFP+, QSFP28, QSFP56, QSFP28-DD and QSFP56-DD optics, copper DAC and AOC, and supports 400G DCO optics for Routed Optical Networking. It uses 1+1 redundant AC or DC power supplies and a 5+1 redundant fan set, with typical system power under 400W without optics. IOS XR licensing is required and is ordered separately.
