Description

The ISR 1100 is a compact, fanless branch router from the Cisco 1000 Series Integrated Services Routers. It combines routing, switching and a pluggable cellular WAN slot in one small chassis, suiting small and branch offices, retail stores, medical clinics and remote sites that need a secure router with LTE backup or primary cellular connectivity. It also serves as an SD-WAN edge device and provides VoIP survivability through Cisco Unified Border Element and Unified SRST.

The C1121-4PLTEPPM provides 4 x Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and a dual-WAN arrangement of one copper GE port plus one combo copper/SFP GE port. A pluggable cellular module slot accepts LTE and 5G modules, and the unit is PoE-ready, with optional PoE on the LAN ports via the ISR-1100-POE2 adapter and 115W power supply (2 PoE ports or 1 PoE+ port). It carries 4 GB DRAM and 4 GB flash, with up to 1600 Mbps IPv4 forwarding throughput and up to 500 Mbps IPsec throughput in autonomous mode. It runs Cisco IOS XE or controller-managed IOS XE SD-WAN, and ships with IP Base.

The combo WAN port supports SFPs including GLC-SX-MM(D), GLC-LH-SM(D) and GLC-ZX-SM(D), and the cellular slot supports a range of LTE CAT4, CAT6, CAT7 and CAT18 modules as well as 5G options.

Q: Which licence does it ship with?
A: It ships with IP Base. Optional technology licences cover Application Experience, Unified Communications and Security, plus IPsec performance upgrades. SD-WAN deployments use Cisco DNA Essentials, Advantage or Premier subscriptions, and Smart Licensing requires a Cisco Smart Account.

Q: How is PoE provided on the LAN ports?
A: PoE is optional. It requires the ISR-1100-POE2 adapter and a 115W power supply, which provides 2 PoE ports or 1 PoE+ port on the 4-port models.

Q: Which cellular modules does the pluggable slot support?
A: Supported modules include P-LTE (CAT4), P-LTEA (CAT6), P-LTEA7 (CAT7) and P-LTEAP18-GL (CAT18), plus P-5GS6-GL for 5G NSA and P-5GS6-R16-SA for 5G SA on suitable IOS XE releases.

Q: Which SFPs work in the combo WAN port?
