Description

The MX80 is a compact 2RU member of the MX Series 3D Universal Edge Router range, built for space- and power-constrained service provider facilities and enterprise edge sites. It suits edge and aggregation roles where full Ethernet capability and advanced services are needed in a small footprint.

This MX80-DC variant is powered from a DC supply of -40 to -72 VDC, with a nominal 48/60 VDC input. It delivers 80 Gbps of system capacity and 55 to 60 Mpps of packet forwarding, with four built-in 10GbE ports. Two front MIC slots and one rear MS-MIC slot allow Ethernet and non-Ethernet interfaces, including PDH/TDM, to be added. Typical power draw is 310 W with a maximum output of 500 W, and the chassis supports redundant power supplies and fans.

It runs Junos OS on the programmable Trio chipset, and throughput upgrades are enabled through software licensing. The two front slots accept MICs from the MX Series interface module portfolio, while the rear slot accepts the Service MIC (MS-MIC) only. The four built-in 10GbE ports use XFP optics.
