Description

The MX5 is a compact 2RU universal edge router from the Juniper MX Series, built on the Junos Trio chipset for space- and power-constrained enterprise and service provider sites. This MX5-T-DC variant is the DC-powered chassis with timing support, suited to telco-style facilities, WAN edge, IPTV video distribution, cloud connectivity, data centre interconnect and mobile backhaul where timing is needed.

System capacity is 20 Gbps, and one MIC slot is enabled with a MIC-3D-20GE-SFP providing 20 x 1GbE SFP ports. The chassis uses dual DC power supplies rated -40 to -72 VDC, with 13 A input at -48 VDC and 500 W maximum output per supply. It fits a 2RU rack-mount chassis measuring 17.5 x 3.5 x 23.5 in and weighs up to 30 lb (13.7 kg).

The SKU includes Junos with the S-MX80-ADV-R advanced routing licence, S-MX80-Q enhanced queuing licence and S-ACCT-JFLOW-IN-5G inline J-Flow accounting licence. The second MIC slot and the four 10GbE XFP ports are unlocked by separately purchased upgrade licences, which also provide a software path up to MX10, MX40 and MX80 capacity.
