Description

The MX5-T-AC is the AC-powered chassis of the compact Juniper MX Series MX5 Universal Edge Router. It suits space- and power-constrained enterprise and service provider sites, including WAN edge, mobile backhaul and aggregation, and flow monitoring or NAT services through the MS-MIC slot.

The MX5 provides 20 Gbps of system capacity in a 2RU chassis, with up to 24 chassis per rack. One MIC slot is enabled with a 20-port Gigabit Ethernet MIC. A second MIC slot and four 10GbE interfaces can be unlocked with separately purchased upgrade licences. This AC chassis accepts 100-240 VAC input (operating range 90 to 264 VAC at 50-60 Hz), unlike the MX5-T-DC, which uses a DC chassis.

It runs Junos OS on the Junos Trio programmable chipset. The MX5 can be upgraded by software licence to MX10, MX40 or MX80 performance, and it accepts a wide range of MX Series MICs.

Q: Does the MX5-T-AC need a licence to use all its ports?
