Description

The MX480 is a modular edge router chassis from Juniper's MX Series Universal Routing Platforms, built for service provider and enterprise edge deployments. Typical roles include data centre and cloud edge, aggregation, WAN edge, 5G mobility and secure edge routing. It runs Junos OS on the programmable Trio chipset, combining routing, switching, security and services on one platform.

This is the Base 3 bundle with the enhanced midplane and SCBE switch control board fabric, configured for DC power. The 8-slot chassis delivers 7.5 Tbps of system capacity and uses a horizontal slot orientation. Power supplies, Routing Engines and fans are all redundant, with side-to-side airflow. The Routing Engine carries 64 GB DDR4 RAM, dual 50 GB SSDs and 6 cores. It is NEBS certified (GR-1089-Core and GR-63-Core) for telecom environments. Software feature licences are ordered separately, and this bundle is the DC variant of MX480BASE3-AC.

The chassis takes MPC and MIC line cards, and with Junos Fusion Provider Edge it can act as an aggregation device for EX4300 and QFX5100 satellite switches.

A: The Base 3 hardware bundle does not list an included feature licence tier. Optional Junos software feature licences are ordered separately.
