Description

The MX480 is an 8U, 8-slot modular edge router chassis from the Juniper MX Series, built for service provider, cloud and enterprise edge deployments. This MX480BASE3-AC bundle suits broadband network gateway, VPN and transport services, data centre interconnect and mobile or cable service core roles.

This SKU combines AC power (100-240 VAC) with the Enhanced Midplane, one Enhanced Switch Control Board (SCB-E) and a discounted Routing Engine. The chassis provides six slots for DPCs and MPCs, with up to 1.5 Tbps of switch fabric capacity per slot and up to 9 Tbps of platform capacity. Maximum power consumption is 4100 W, with airflow side to side. The chassis measures 17.45 x 14 x 24.5 in (44.3 x 35.6 x 62.2 cm) and weighs up to 180 lbs (81.6 kg) fully loaded.

It works with the included Enhanced MX SCBE and also supports SCB-MX, SCBE2-MX and SCBE3-MX boards, along with DPCs and MPCs and their MICs. The router runs Junos OS, with feature licences sold separately for advanced functions.

A: It runs Junos OS. Feature licences for advanced functions are sold separately, so confirm the tier you need for your deployment.

A: This is the AC model, taking 100-240 VAC. Maximum power consumption is 4100 W, or 3501 W on low-line. A high-line AC configuration uses two or four AC power supplies, and four gives full redundancy.
