Description

The MX240 Base Chassis is a DC-powered, 5RU modular router chassis from the Juniper MX Series. It provides three line-card slots and is designed for service provider and enterprise edge deployments that need a compact, high-density Layer 3 routing platform.

This SKU is the DC-powered variant, supplied as a bundle with the midplane, one SCBE (Switch Control Board Enhanced) and a Routing Engine. The chassis is dual RE/SCB capable, so a second Routing Engine and SCB can be added for redundancy. DC power supplies take a -48 VDC input, with one DC input and a 40 A circuit breaker on each supply.

The MX240 supports both normal-capacity and high-capacity DC power supplies. High-capacity supplies should be fed from 60 A or 70 A feeds depending on the DIP switch setting, and the input mode switch must be set before a supply is installed in the chassis.
