Description

The MX240 is a compact 5U universal edge router from the Juniper MX Series, built for space-constrained service provider, cable, mobile, data centre interconnect and enterprise WAN edge deployments. It suits Ethernet aggregation, VPN services and business or residential service edge roles where carrier-class routing is needed in a small footprint.

This base bundle pairs the MX240 chassis and non-enhanced midplane with one Enhanced Switch Control Board (SCB-E) and Lowline AC power. The 4-slot chassis provides 2 dedicated line-card slots, 1 dedicated SCB slot and 1 multifunction slot that accepts a DPC, MPC or SCB. System capacity reaches up to 3 Tbps, with switch fabric capacity of up to 1.5 Tbps per slot depending on the SCB and line card fitted. The low-line AC supplies take 100-240 VAC, with a maximum output of 1167 W at low line, and the chassis runs Junos OS.

It works with MX240 DPCs, MPCs, MICs and FPCs for 1GbE, 10GbE, 40GbE and 100GbE interfaces. Fully populated, the platform supports up to 48 x 10GbE, 4 x 100GbE plus 8 x 10GbE, or 12 x 40GbE line-rate ports. Feature licences are purchased separately.

A: It runs Junos OS. Advanced, subscriber and scale feature packs are licensed separately, and this base bundle does not include additional feature licences.

A: This SKU uses low-line AC power supplies rated for 100-240 VAC at 50-60 Hz. Maximum output is 1167 W at low line.

Q: Which line cards work with this chassis?
