Description

The MSR4080 is a 5U modular multiservice router chassis from the MSR4000 family, built for large branch sites and enterprise edge or WAN aggregation. It brings WAN routing, Ethernet switching, a stateful firewall, VPN and a SIP voice gateway into a single platform, which suits the HPE FlexBranch approach of consolidating several devices.

This chassis provides 8 HMIM interface module slots (4 half-height and 4 full-height), 2 Main Processing Unit slots, 1 Service Processing Unit slot and 4 power supply slots in an N+1 arrangement. It can be rack mounted in a standard 19-inch rack or used on a desktop. It runs Comware v7 and supports up to 60 Mpps forwarding throughput with 64-byte packets, along with 1,000,000 IPv4 and 1,000,000 IPv6 routing entries. Optional 3G and 4G LTE radios are available through modules, and PoE+ power of up to 450 W depends on the power supplies fitted.

It works with MPU-100 main processing units and SPU-100, SPU-200 and SPU-300 service processing units, including the -X1 variants. Power is supplied by the JG527A (300W AC) or JG528A (300W DC) supplies, and supplies cannot be mixed within one chassis.

FAQs

Q: Does this chassis need a licence to operate?
A: No licence is required for basic operation. The chassis runs Comware v7, and standard or high encryption is offered depending on the MPU and SPU selected.

Q: Which power supplies does it support?
A: It supports the JG527A X351 300W 100-240VAC and JG528A X351 300W 48-60VDC power supplies. Up to four can be fitted in an N+1 arrangement, and AC and DC supplies cannot be mixed in one chassis.

Q: What processing units does it work with?
A: It requires one MPU-100 Main Processing Unit and one Service Processing Unit from the SPU-100, SPU-200 or SPU-300 range, including the -X1 variants.

Q: Can it support 3G or 4G LTE connectivity?
A: Yes. 3G and 4G LTE radios are available through optional modules, and an external 3G or 4G USB modem can also be used for uplink.

Q: How does this model differ from other MSR4000 chassis?
A: The MSR4080 is the 5U model with 8 HMIM slots, made up of 4 half-height and 4 full-height slots, giving the most interface expansion in the MSR4000 family.
