Description

The HPE HSR6808 is the 8-slot, 20U chassis in the HSR6800 range of high-performance WAN services routers (Comware). It is aimed at large data centre and campus WAN edge and service aggregation, where high-density 10GbE WAN connectivity, MPLS, IPsec VPN and carrier-class resiliency are needed.

The chassis provides 8 SAP slots, or 16 HIM slots, or 32 MIM slots, or a combination, plus 2 MPU management slots and an optional switch fabric slot. Fitting the switch fabric reduces I/O capacity to 7 SAP, 14 HIM or 28 MIM slots. It delivers up to 420 Mpps forwarding on a 2048 Gbps backplane, with routing tables of 2,000,000 IPv4 and 2,000,000 IPv6 entries. Compared with the 7U, 2-slot HSR6802 and the 4-slot HSR6804, this 20U model offers the greatest interface density in the family. Power is redundant and hot-swappable, with a minimum of 2 power supplies (such as the 1200W AC JG335A) and a maximum power rating of 1816 W.

It works with the JH075A HSR6800 RSE-X3 MPU (one minimum, two maximum), FIP-260 and FIP-380 interface platforms (JM049A, JM050A), and MIC-X modules including 4-port and 2-port 10GbE SFP+ and 8-port POS. It runs the Comware OS and supports IRF virtualisation, so multiple routers appear as a single node.

Q: Does this chassis need a separate software subscription?
A: No separate subscription is listed for the chassis. It runs the Comware OS.

Q: How many power supplies does it need?
A: A minimum of 2 power supplies must be fitted, such as the 1200W AC JG335A. If more than one is installed, all must be the same SKU. Input is 100-240 VAC or -48 to -60 VDC depending on the supply chosen.

Q: Which management module does it use?
A: It uses the JH075A HSR6800 RSE-X3 MPU. At least 1 is required and the chassis has 2 MPU slots for redundancy.

Q: What interface modules does it work with?
