Description

The HSR6804 is a 7U modular multiservice WAN router chassis from the HPE FlexNetwork HSR6800 range. It is built for data centre interconnect, enterprise WAN core and campus WAN edge roles, where high-speed WAN aggregation and MPLS routing are needed on one platform.

The chassis provides 4 SAP slots, or 8 HIM slots, or 16 MIM slots, or a combination, plus 2 MPU slots with at least one management module required. Forwarding is rated up to 240 Mpps with 1024 Gbps of backplane bandwidth. The routing table holds 4,000,000 IPv4 and 2,000,000 IPv6 entries, and the forwarding table holds 1,000,000 IPv4 and 1,000,000 IPv6 entries. It uses a multicore distributed architecture with separate routing and service engines. Within the HSR6800 family it sits between the 2 SAP slot, 5U HSR6802 and the 8 SAP slot, 20U HSR6808.

The chassis takes at least one internal power supply and up to two for redundancy, and all installed supplies must be the same model. It accepts 1GbE and 10GbE interface modules along with POS and T3 options, and works with the RSE-X3 MPU (JH075A), FIP-260 and FIP-380 service modules, and X130 10G SFP+ transceivers.

A: Yes. At least one MPU management module and at least one power supply are required to operate the chassis. Two of each can be fitted for redundancy.
