Description

The UCS XE9305 is the 3RU, short-depth chassis at the heart of Cisco Unified Edge. It is built for distributed edge locations such as retail, branch and remote sites, where space and power are limited and skilled IT staff are rarely on hand. Five front-facing node slots host compute, storage, networking and security nodes, and the platform is managed through Cisco Intersight.

The chassis measures 13 cm high, 44 cm wide and 45.7 cm deep, and offers five half-width node slots plus one PCIe Gen5 GPU slot for a 75 W half-height, half-length GPU such as the NVIDIA L4. It has two bays for 2400 W Titanium AC power supplies in an N+N arrangement and five 80 mm hot-swappable dual-rotor fans. Two Cisco Edge Chassis Management Controllers (UCSXE-ECMC-G1) provide an embedded 25 Gbps switch, each with 2x 10G SFP+ uplinks and a 1G RJ-45 management port. This is the base chassis SKU, so the eCMCs, power supplies, fans, bezel and mounting hardware are specified separately.

Supported nodes include the UCS XE130c M8 and XE150c M8 compute nodes and the Cisco C8255-G2-UCSXE Secure Router Node. Mounting options cover 4-post sliding rails, 2-post static kits, wall brackets and shelf mounting.

Q: How does UCSXE-9305 differ from UCSXE-9305-U and UCSXE-9305=?
A: UCSXE-9305 is the base chassis. The eCMCs, bezel, air filter, mounting kit, power supplies, fans and cables are specified separately. UCSXE-9305-U is the configured version and UCSXE-9305= is the spare part.

Q: Does it need Cisco Intersight?
A: Yes. The chassis is managed through Cisco Intersight, and a separate Intersight licence or subscription tier is needed for management and full functionality.

Q: What power supplies does it use?
A: It has two bays for 2400 W Titanium AC power supplies in an N+N arrangement, with IEC C20 inputs. Output per PSU is 2400 W at 200 to 240 VAC and lower at 100 to 127 VAC.
