Description

The UCS XE130c M8 is a 1 RU, half-width edge compute node in the Cisco Unified Edge family. It is built for space-constrained, short-depth edge locations running bare-metal servers, virtualisation, containers and AI/ML inferencing. This SKU is the 12-core version with a single Intel Xeon 6 SoC P-core processor, ordered as a UCS XE9305 Chassis option with no memory, drives, GPU or adapters.

Each node provides 4 memory channels and 8 DIMM slots for DDR5-6400 RDIMMs up to 768 GB, two 25 Gbps rear ports to the chassis mid-plane and Chassis Management Controllers, and two 10 Gbps RJ-45 front host ports. Storage options include up to four E3.S NVMe drives in the Storage-Optimised configuration or three in the IO-Optimised configuration, plus a mini storage module with two M.2 SSDs and hardware RAID 1. A dedicated PCIe Gen5 slot takes a 75 W half-height, half-length GPU such as the NVIDIA L4, and a second PCIe Gen5 slot takes an adapter in the IO-Optimised configuration.

The node installs only in the Cisco UCS XE9305 Chassis, with up to five nodes per chassis, and is managed through Cisco Intersight in Intersight Managed Mode, which requires at least an Essentials licence per server. Selecting an NVIDIA GPU requires an NVIDIA AI Enterprise licence.

FAQs

Q: Does this node need a licence or subscription?
A: No licence is included with the base node. Management through Cisco Intersight in Intersight Managed Mode needs at least an Essentials licence per server, selected separately as Essentials or Advantage. An NVIDIA GPU also requires an NVIDIA AI Enterprise licence.

Q: Which chassis does it install in?
A: It installs only in the Cisco UCS XE9305 Unified Edge chassis, which holds up to 5 compute nodes.

Q: How is the node powered?
A: It is powered from the UCS XE9305 chassis power supplies. The node has a power cap of 1300 W for all component combinations, with ambient temperature below 35 C. Use the Cisco UCS Power Calculator for configuration-specific figures.

Q: What can be added to this node?
A: Options include DDR5-6400 RDIMMs, E3.S NVMe drives, M.2 boot drives with RAID 1, an NVIDIA L4 GPU (UCSXE-GPU-L4) and a PCIe Gen5 adapter in the IO-Optimised configuration.

Q: How does this SKU differ from other XE130c M8 nodes?
A: This is the 12-core version. Other XE130c M8 variants use 20 or 32 physical cores. The node is ordered without memory, drives, GPU or adapters.
