Description

The UCS 6664 is a 2RU top-of-rack fabric interconnect from the Cisco UCS 6600 Series. It forms the network and management backbone of a UCS domain, connecting UCS X-Series, B-Series and C-Series servers over a single unified fabric. It suits data centres moving to 100GbE Ethernet and 64G Fibre Channel.

The 6664 provides 64 fixed ports and up to 11.648 Tbps of throughput. Ports 1-24 and 41-64 are 40/100GbE QSFP28, giving 48 ports in total. Ports 25-40 are 16 unified ports that run either 10/25/50GbE on SFP or 16/32/64G Fibre Channel. Supported speeds cover 10/25/40/50/100GbE, FCoE and 16/32/64G FC. It has 4 cores, 32 GB of system memory, a dedicated management port and L1/L2 ports for pairing two fabric interconnects for high availability. This UCS-FI-6664-U SKU is for UCS Manager and Intersight Managed Mode and is the base unit without power supplies. It is powered by up to two UCS-PSU-6600-AC 1400W AC supplies, with typical draw of 605W.

It works with the UCS X9508 and UCS 5108 chassis, UCSX-9108-25G and UCSX-9108-100G intelligent fabric modules, the IOM 2408, and UCS VIC 1400, 14000 and 15000 Series adapters. C-Series servers can be direct-connected or attached through a Nexus N9K-C93180YC-FX3 in FEX mode.

Q: Does the UCS 6664 need a separate software licence?
A: No. The unit ships with a perpetual software licence (UCS-FI-6664-SW) that activates all ports and software features. A management mode (UCS Manager or Intersight Managed Mode) and a software image PID are selected when ordering.

Q: What power supplies does the UCS-FI-6664-U use?
A: The base unit has no power supplies. It uses the UCS-PSU-6600-AC, a 1400W platinum AC supply for 100-240VAC, with up to two per unit. Typical draw is 605W and maximum is 1100W.

Q: Which ports support Fibre Channel?
A: The 16 unified ports, ports 25-40, run either 10/25/50GbE or 16/32/64G Fibre Channel. The remaining 48 ports are 40/100GbE QSFP28 Ethernet ports.
