Description

The UCS 6664 is a 2RU top-of-rack fabric interconnect from the 6th-generation UCS 6600 Series. It connects Cisco UCS X-Series, B-Series and C-Series servers to the LAN and SAN, consolidating Ethernet, FCoE and native Fibre Channel traffic onto one unified fabric. This SKU is the Intersight Managed Mode variant, suited to environments moving to 100GbE with a 64G Fibre Channel SAN.

It provides 64 fixed ports with 11.648 Tbps of switching capacity. Forty-eight ports run as 40/100GbE QSFP28, while 16 unified ports (ports 25-40) operate as 10/25/50GbE SFP or 16/32/64G Fibre Channel. The unit has four CPU cores, 32 GB of system memory, one management port, one console port and one USB port, with L1/L2 ports for high-availability pairing. Cut-through forwarding delivers deterministic, line-rate, low-latency Ethernet regardless of packet size. Power comes from up to two 1400W AC supplies with a typical draw of 605W, cooled by four fan modules with front-to-back airflow.

The fabric interconnect works with UCS X9508 and UCS 5108 chassis through the UCSX-9108-25G, UCSX-9108-100G and IOM 2408 modules. It supports Cisco UCS VIC 1400, 14000 and 15000 Series adapters, and is managed through Cisco Intersight or UCS Manager.

Q: Does the UCS 6664 need a separate software licence?
A: The 6600 Series ships with a perpetual licence that activates all ports and software features, so no customer licence management is needed. Intersight itself is managed separately.

Q: Which chassis and servers does it work with?
A: It supports Cisco UCS X9508 and UCS 5108 chassis through the UCSX-9108-25G, UCSX-9108-100G and IOM 2408 modules. It connects UCS B-Series and X-Series (Intel or AMD) M5 and newer, and C-Series (Intel or AMD) M6 and newer.

Q: What power supplies and cooling does it use?
A: It takes up to two UCS-PSU-6600-AC 1400W Platinum AC supplies (100-240 VAC) and four UCS-FAN-6664 fan modules. Airflow runs front (PSU/fan side) to back (port side), and the supplies and fans are hot-swappable.
