Description

The NCS 540 N540X-8Z16G-SYS-A is a 1RU, fan-cooled cell-site and access router running Cisco IOS XR. It is built for 5G and mobile backhaul, access and aggregation for mobile and wireline services, and MEF 3.0 wireline services, particularly in indoor or outdoor sealed cabinets that need industrial-temperature, conformal-coated, ETSI-conforming equipment.

This Dual-AC variant provides 8x 1/10GE SFP+ ports, 4x 1GE SFP ports and 4x 1GE RJ45 ports, plus a 12/20 CSFP x 1G configuration of either 8x 1GE SFP or 16x 1GE cSFP ports. Forwarding performance reaches 125 Mpps, backed by a 4-core 2GHz CPU, 8 GB DRAM and 16 GB eMMC storage. Dual 1+1 fixed redundant AC supplies accept Universal AC 90 to 265V. The iTemp design operates from -40 C to +65 C up to 1800 m, and the conformal coating protects the boards in harsh environments. SyncE and PTP timing meet Class C, with 1pps, 10MHz and ToD interfaces.

Software runs on Cisco IOS XR and is licensed per 10G through the NCS 540 flexible consumption model, in Access Essentials or Access Advantage tiers. Rackmount options cover 19 inch, 23 inch and ETSI racks, ordered separately as the N540-RCKMT-19-ACA, N540-RCKMT-23-ACA and N540-RKMT-ETSI-ACA kits.
