Description

The NCS 540 N540X-6Z18G is a 1RU temperature-hardened, conformal-coated router running Cisco IOS XR. It is built for cell-site and aggregation roles, including 3G, 4G and 5G RAN backhaul, Fixed Wireless Access, small-cell backhaul, FTTx, utilities and mission-critical enterprise sites, in indoor or sealed outdoor cabinets.

This variant provides 18 x 1GE SFP ports and 6 x 1/10GE SFP+ ports, with up to 125 Mpps forwarding performance. It is powered by a 4-core 2GHz CPU with 8 GB DRAM and 16 GB eMMC storage. Dual (1+1) fixed redundant DC power supplies accept a wide-range -20V to -72V input, with family power draw of under 40W minimum, under 70W typical and 100W maximum. The iTEMP design is rated for -40 to 65 C up to 1800 m, and the conformal coating protects the boards in harsh environments.

Timing support includes G.8273.2 Class C, SyncE and PTP, with 1pps, 10MHz and ToD interfaces. Transceivers are listed in Cisco's Transceiver Module Group Compatibility Matrix for the NCS 540 Series, and 19 inch, 23 inch and ETSI rack mounting is supported with the matching DC rackmount kits.
