Description

The Cisco NCS 540 N540X-16Z4G8Q2C-D is a compact 1RU carrier-edge router in the Network Convergence System 540 medium-density family, running Cisco IOS XR. It is built for carrier-edge, mobile backhaul and access aggregation, including timing-sensitive deployments that need Class C PTP and SyncE with GNSS. The hardened design suits indoor or outdoor cabinets that need a compact, DC-powered router.

The port layout combines 16 x 1GE/10GE SFP+ ports, 8 x 1GE/10GE/25GE SFP28 ports, 4 x 1GE RJ-45 ports and 2 x 40GE/100GE QSFP28 ports. Forwarding performance reaches up to 300 Mpps, driven by an 8-core 1.7GHz x86 CPU with 8GB DRAM and 32GB storage. This DC variant uses fixed dual redundant DC power supplies with a -40V to -72V input range, and is rated for -40C to +70C at 1,000 ft with side-to-side airflow.

Software features include MPLS, L2VPN/EVPN and Segment Routing. Optional Access Essentials and Access Advantage licences are available. Compatible optics are listed in the Cisco Transceiver Module Group compatibility matrix for the NCS 540 series.
