Description

The NCS 540 is a compact 1RU, temperature-hardened service provider router for access and aggregation roles, running Cisco IOS XR. It suits mobile backhaul and 5G transport, including indoor or outdoor cabinets that need Segment Routing and integrated timing.

This AC-powered variant provides 12x 1GE SFP ports, 12x 1GE/10GE SFP+ ports and 4x 10/100M/1G RJ-45 ports, with forwarding of up to 160 Mpps. It is powered by a fixed single AC supply that accepts 90-265V AC at 50-60 Hz. Timing is built in, with SyncE, PTP (Class C) and an internal GNSS receiver, plus BITS, 1pps, 10MHz and ToD interfaces. It operates from -40 to +70 C at 1,000 ft, and the chassis measures just 25 cm deep and weighs 6.0 kg.

Software is Cisco IOS XR with Right-to-Use or Subscription licensing per 10G. The router works with Cisco 1G SFP and 10G SFP+ optics. AC rackmount kits N540-RCKMT-19-ACA, N540-RCKMT-23-ACA and N540-RKMT-ETSI-ACA are available, along with the N540-CBL-BRKT-AC cable bracket.
