Description

The Cisco NCS 540 is a 1RU, temperature-hardened service provider access and aggregation router running carrier-class Cisco IOS XR. It is built for mobile backhaul (5G), converged access and deployments in indoor or outdoor cabinets that need precise timing and synchronisation.

This DC-powered variant provides 12x 1GE/10GE SFP+ ports, 12x 1GE SFP ports and 4x 1GE RJ-45 ports, with up to 160 Mpps of forwarding performance. It has a 4-core 1.6GHz x86 CPU, 8GB DRAM and 32GB of storage. Power comes from fixed dual redundant DC power supplies with an input range of -40V to -72V DC, and the chassis is rated for -40C to +70C operation at 1,000 ft. An integrated GNSS receiver, SyncE and IEEE 1588 PTP support Class C timing.

Capacity on this chassis family is licensed with Access Essentials or Access Advantage Right-to-Use or subscription options per 10G. Supported optics are listed in the Cisco Transceiver Module Group Compatibility Matrix, and DC-variant rackmount kits are available in 19-inch, 23-inch and ETSI sizes.
