Description

The NCS 540 N540-28Z4C-SYS-D-V is a 1RU DC-powered aggregation router from the Cisco Network Convergence System 540 medium-density range. It is built for service provider access and aggregation roles such as mobile backhaul and fronthaul and metro Ethernet, and suits indoor and outdoor cabinet deployments as a cell-site or aggregation router.

It provides 28 x 1GE/10GE SFP+ ports and 4 x 40GE/100GE QSFP28 uplinks, with forwarding performance of up to 300 Mpps. An 8-core 1.7GHz x86 CPU, 8GB DRAM and 32GB storage run Cisco IOS XR. Power comes from fixed dual redundant DC supplies accepting -40V to -72V DC, with fixed redundant fans and front-to-back airflow. The chassis is 25 cm deep and weighs 4.7 kg, and it operates from -5 C to +55 C. Precise timing is supported through SyncE and PTP to Class B.

Supported optics are listed in the Cisco Transceiver Module Group Compatibility Matrix. DC-variant rackmount kits include N540-RCKMT-19-CLD, N540-RCKMT-23-CLD and N540-RKMT-ETSI-CLD, with cable bracket N540-CBL-BRKT-CL and wall mount N540-WALLMT-CLA.
