Description

The NCS 540 is a 1RU fixed-chassis service provider router from the Cisco Network Convergence System 540 family. It is built for cost-effective access and aggregation, including mobile backhaul and 5G transport, and is suited to indoor or outdoor cabinet deployments where precise timing synchronisation is needed.

This AC-powered model provides 28 x 1GE/10GE ports and 4 x 40GE/100GE ports, with forwarding performance of up to 300 Mpps. It has a single fixed AC power supply accepting worldwide-ranging 90-265V AC at 50-60 Hz, and fixed redundant fans with front-to-back airflow. An 8-core 1.7GHz x86 CPU, 8GB DRAM and 32GB storage support the Cisco IOS XR software platform. SyncE and PTP timing are supported, along with BITS, 1pps, 10MHz and ToD interfaces.

The chassis runs Cisco IOS XR. Optional Access Essentials and Access Advantage licences are sold per 10G as Right-to-Use or Subscription. Compatible mounting options include rack-mount kits N540-RCKMT-19-CLA, N540-RCKMT-23-CLA and N540-RKMT-ETSI-CLA, cable bracket N540-CBL-BRKT-CL and wall mount N540-WALLMT-CLA.
