Description

The NCS 540 24Z8Q2C-SYS is a 1RU, temperature-hardened service provider access and aggregation router running carrier-class Cisco IOS XR. It suits 5G mobile backhaul and transport, business and residential services, and indoor or outdoor cabinet deployments that need precise frequency and phase/time synchronisation.

This -SYS chassis provides 24x 1/10GE ports, 8x 1/10/25GE ports and 2x 40/100GE ports, with up to 300 Mpps of forwarding performance. It is built around a 4-core 1.5 GHz x86 CPU with 32GB DRAM and 128GB storage, and ships as a full system with 2 hot-swappable AC/DC power supplies (1+1) and 4 modular fans (3+1) with front-to-back airflow. An integrated GNSS receiver, SyncE and PTP (Class B) support precise timing. Software licensing is required, with Access Essentials and Access Advantage tiers available as Right-to-Use or subscription licences.

The 2x 40/100GE ports take QSFP28 and QSFP+ optics, the 10/25GE ports take SFP28 and SFP+ optics, and the 1/10GE ports take SFP and SFP+ optics. Power supplies are N540-PWR400-A (AC) or N540-PWR400-D (DC), and the fan module is N540-FAN. The 32GB DRAM configuration supports third-party application hosting, including Cisco DDoS Edge Protection.
