Description

The NCS 540 is a 1RU, temperature-hardened service provider access and aggregation router running Cisco IOS XR. This AC-powered system suits mobile backhaul for 5G and IoT, and compact indoor or outdoor cabinet deployments that need precise timing.

The port layout is 4x 1GE RJ-45, 12x 1GE SFP and 12x 1GE/10GE SFP+, 28 ports in total. Forwarding performance reaches up to 160 Mpps, backed by a 4-core 1.6GHz x86 CPU, 8GB DRAM and 32GB storage. Power comes from a fixed single AC supply accepting 90-265V at 50-60Hz, and fixed redundant fans provide side-to-side airflow. The chassis is 25 cm deep, weighs 6.0 kg and operates from -40 to +70 C.

Timing is built in, with SyncE, PTP and an integrated GNSS receiver, plus BITS, 1pps, 10MHz and ToD interfaces for Class C synchronisation. The platform runs IOS XR 7.0 or later with Access Essentials and Access Advantage flexible consumption licensing, and works with the N540-RCKMT-19-EGA, N540-RCKMT-23-EGA and N540-RKMT-ETSI-EGA rackmount kits.
