Description

The ISR 4431 is a modular branch-office integrated services router from the Cisco 4000 Series ISR family. This UC bundle pairs the universalk9 image with a Unified Communications technology licence and a PVDM4-64 voice DSP module, so it suits a branch voice gateway, an SRST or CME site, or Cisco Unified Border Element duty for SIP trunking.

The router provides four onboard 10/100/1000 WAN/LAN ports, with each port accepting RJ-45 or SFP. It has three NIM slots and one onboard ISC slot that holds the PVDM4-64. Aggregate throughput is 500 Mbps by default and can be raised to 1 Gbps with the FL-44-PERF-K9 performance licence. Memory is 2 GB data-plane DRAM and 4 GB control and services-plane DRAM, upgradable to 16 GB, with 8 GB of flash upgradable to 32 GB. It is a 1RU unit with an internal AC power supply, a second supply can be added for redundancy, and AC, DC and PoE supply options are available.

The three NIM slots take Cisco 4000 Series NIMs covering T1/E1 voice and WAN, serial, xDSL, async, Gigabit Ethernet WAN, LTE and SSD or HDD modules. The onboard SFP ports take Cisco 1G SFPs. Security, Application Experience and boost licences are not part of this UC bundle.

Q: What licensing does the ISR4431-V/K9 include?
A: It ships with the universalk9 image, a Unified Communications technology licence and a PVDM4-64 DSP module. The Security, Application Experience and boost licences are not included.

Q: How do I increase the throughput beyond 500 Mbps?
A: Aggregate throughput defaults to 500 Mbps. Applying the FL-44-PERF-K9 performance licence raises it to 1 Gbps with no hardware change.

Q: What power supplies does the ISR 4431 support?
A: The default configuration uses an internal AC supply (PWR-4430-AC, 250 W) taking 100 to 240 VAC. A second internal supply can be added for redundancy, and DC and PoE supply options are available.
