Description

The Cisco ISR 4331 is a modular branch-office router in the ISR 4000 family, running a single universal IOS XE image with Catalyst SD-WAN support. This voice and security bundle suits sites that need converged voice, VPN and firewall services on one WAN edge platform, including voice gateway, SRST and CUBE roles over MPLS, internet and VPN links.

The bundle pairs UC and Security software licences with a 32-channel PVDM4-32 DSP module in the onboard ISC slot. The router has 3 onboard 10/100/1000 WAN or LAN ports, 2 NIM slots and 1 enhanced service module slot, with 4 GB of DRAM and 4 GB of flash by default, upgradable to 16 GB each. Aggregate throughput is 100 Mbps by default, 300 Mbps with the Performance licence and over 2 Gbps CEF-only with the Boost licence. It is a 1RU unit with an internal AC supply, 100-240 VAC autoranging, drawing 42 W typical and 250 W maximum.

Optional LTE or cellular connectivity can be added through a NIM, and the NIM and SM slots support online insertion and removal. Cisco DNA subscription and SD-WAN software are licensed separately.

FAQs

Q: Which licences does this bundle cover?
A: The VSEC bundle is built around the Unified Communications (UC) and Security (SEC) technology-package licences, together with a PVDM4-32 DSP module. Cisco DNA subscription and SD-WAN software are licensed separately.

Q: How do I get more than 100 Mbps of throughput?
A: Default aggregate throughput is 100 Mbps. The Performance licence raises it to 300 Mbps and the Boost licence delivers over 2 Gbps CEF-only throughput, with no hardware change needed.

Q: Can it provide PoE to endpoints?
A: The standard internal AC supply does not. An optional PoE-capable supply raises the platform maximum to 530 W and can deliver up to 250 W to endpoints.

Q: What modules and connectivity options does it take?
A: It takes up to two NIMs and one enhanced service module, and the onboard ISC slot hosts PVDM4 DSP modules. Optional LTE or cellular connectivity is added through a NIM.

Q: Can the memory be upgraded?
A: Yes. DRAM defaults to 4 GB and can be upgraded to 16 GB. Flash also defaults to 4 GB and can be upgraded to 16 GB.
