Description

The ISR 4331 is a branch-office integrated services router from Cisco's ISR 4000 family, running modular Cisco IOS XE and supporting Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN features. This AX bundle SKU is aimed at small to mid-size branches that need secure, application-aware WAN edge connectivity across MPLS, VPN and Internet links to data centres and public clouds, with room to add voice or NFV services.

The AX bundle includes the Application Experience and Security licences alongside IP Base, which separates it from the base ISR4331/K9, the ISR4331-SEC/K9 and the ISR4331-AXV/K9 that adds PVDM4-32 and a UC licence. Onboard connectivity is three 10/100/1000 WAN/LAN ports, including two RJ-45 and two SFP-based interfaces. Expansion comes from two NIM slots and one Enhanced Service Module (SM-X) slot, plus an onboard ISC slot for PVDM4 voice DSP modules. Default aggregate throughput is 100 Mbps, which the Performance licence raises to 300 Mbps with no hardware change.

The unit ships with 4 GB DRAM and 4 GB flash, both upgradable to 16 GB. It is a 1RU chassis with an internal AC power supply rated at a maximum of 250 W, and an optional PoE-capable supply is available for powering integrated switch modules. Embedded IPsec VPN hardware acceleration supports secure WAN links.

Q: Which licences does the AX bundle include?
A: The AX bundle includes IP Base, Security (SEC) and Application Experience (AppX) licences. Performance and Boost licences are optional upgrades.

Q: What throughput does it deliver?
A: Default aggregate throughput is 100 Mbps. The Performance licence raises this to 300 Mbps, and the Boost licence enables CEF-only throughput of over 2 Gbps.

Q: How does it differ from the other ISR 4331 SKUs?
A: Compared with the base ISR4331/K9 and the ISR4331-SEC/K9, the AX bundle adds both the Application Experience and Security licences. The ISR4331-AXV/K9 further adds a PVDM4-32 voice module and a UC licence.

Q: What expansion options does it have?
A: It has two NIM slots, one Enhanced Service Module (SM-X) slot and an onboard ISC slot for PVDM4 voice DSP modules. DRAM and flash can each be upgraded to 16 GB.

Q: Can it power PoE devices?
