Description

The ISR 4321 is a branch-office router from the Cisco ISR 4300 family, built for small and medium sites that need WAN edge routing with integrated voice. This ISR4321-V/K9 is the Voice bundle, aimed at sites running VoIP gateway, CUBE SIP trunking and Communications Express (CME) workloads, as well as SD-WAN branch connectivity.

It provides two onboard 10/100/1000 WAN/LAN ports, one of which is SFP-capable, two NIM slots and one onboard ISC slot for PVDM4 voice DSP modules. Aggregate throughput is 50 Mbps by default and can be raised to 100 Mbps with the Performance licence, while the Boost licence removes the cap. It ships with 4 GB DRAM and 4 GB flash, upgradable to 8 GB of each. The platform is 1 RU, runs Cisco IOS XE and supports Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN mode.

The -V/K9 suffix includes the Unified Communications technology package entitlement. IPsec VPN features need the Security licence, and CUBE sessions are licensed separately. The NIM slots support online insertion and removal, and LTE connectivity is available through optional cellular modules.

Q: What does the -V/K9 suffix mean?
A: It denotes the Voice bundle, which includes the Unified Communications (UC) technology package entitlement. CUBE sessions are licensed separately.

Q: Can the 50 Mbps throughput limit be increased?
A: Yes. Aggregate throughput is 50 Mbps by default. The Performance licence raises it to 100 Mbps and the Boost licence removes the cap.

Q: Does it need a licence for IPsec VPN?
A: The IPsec VPN feature set needs the Security (SEC) licence. The router includes embedded hardware acceleration for IPsec once that licence is applied.

Q: Can I add LTE or other interfaces?
A: Yes. It has two NIM slots with online insertion and removal, and LTE is available through optional cellular modules. There are no SM-X slots.

Q: How much memory and flash can it take?
A: It has 4 GB DRAM and 4 GB flash by default, and both can be upgraded to a maximum of 8 GB.
