Description

The ISR4321-DNA is a branch-office router from the Cisco 4000 Series Integrated Services Routers, supplied as the ISR 4321 platform bundled with a Cisco DNA software subscription for SD-WAN and routing. It suits small and medium branch WAN edge deployments, including sites managed through Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN with optional cellular backup.

The chassis provides two onboard 10/100/1000 WAN/LAN RJ-45 ports plus one SFP-based port, and two NIM slots with online insertion and removal for adding WAN, voice or cellular modules. It ships with 4 GB DRAM (expandable to 8 GB) and 4 GB flash (expandable to 8 GB). Aggregate throughput is 50 Mbps by default, rising to 100 Mbps with the Performance licence and 1.5 Gbps CEF-only with the Boost licence.

The DNA subscription is in the Essentials or Advantage tier, which sets the Network Essentials or Network Advantage software stack. Power comes from an external AC supply (100 to 240 VAC) with typical draw of 36 W and a maximum of 125 W. The 1RU chassis suits standard 19-inch racks, and management access is by USB and RJ-45 console ports.

Q: Does the ISR4321-DNA include a software licence?
A: It is bundled with a Cisco DNA software subscription for SD-WAN and routing, in the Essentials or Advantage tier. The tier determines whether the Network Essentials or Network Advantage stack is used.

Q: What throughput does it provide?
A: Aggregate throughput is 50 Mbps by default and 100 Mbps with the Performance licence. The Boost licence raises CEF-only throughput to 1.5 Gbps.

Q: Can I add cellular or other modules?
A: Yes. The two NIM slots accept WAN, voice and cellular (4G/LTE) modules, and they support online insertion and removal. There is one onboard ISC slot and no SM-X slots.
