Description

The ENCS 5408 is a 1RU enterprise network compute appliance for SD-Branch and Enterprise NFV deployments, running virtual network functions alongside integrated routing and switching. This model is powered by an 8-core Intel Xeon D-1548 with 16GB DRAM, a built-in 8-port Gigabit LAN switch and a non-PoE power supply, and ships without disks so storage can be specified to suit the workload. A single NIM slot allows WAN and LAN interface expansion for branch and edge sites.

Q: Does this ENCS5408/K9 include disks?
A: No. This SKU ships without a disk. The chassis supports up to 2 SFF drives (SATA, SAS or SSD) with RAID 0/1, so storage can be fitted to suit your virtual network function requirements.

Q: Can this unit supply PoE to connected devices?
A: This SKU uses the standard non-PoE power supply. The 8-port integrated switch is only PoE-capable with the optional PoE power supply, which is available on the 5408 and 5412 models.

Q: How much memory can the ENCS 5408 support?
A: It has 2 DIMM slots supporting 8, 16 or 32 GB ECC DDR4 modules. This SKU has 16 GB installed as a single DIMM, and the maximum supported is 64 GB.

Q: Does this model include an LTE module?
A: No. The single NIM slot supports WAN interface, 4G LTE and Gigabit LAN/WAN NIMs, but no LTE module is included with this SKU.
