Description

The Cisco ISR 2951 is a modular 2RU router from the Cisco 2900 Series Integrated Services Routers, built for branch offices and small to medium enterprise WAN edge deployments that need encrypted site-to-site connectivity, secure voice and room for service expansion.

This SKU is the 2951 platform bundled with the HSEC (high-performance security) licence and the ISM VPN acceleration module, which sets it apart from the plain HSEC SKU that has no ISM VPN module. It provides 3 onboard 10/100/1000 WAN ports plus 1 SFP-based port that shares with an RJ-45 port. Expansion comes from 4 EHWIC slots (2 double-wide), 2 service module slots (1 double-wide), 3 onboard DSP (PVDM) slots and 1 ISM slot. Memory is 512 MB DDR2 ECC DRAM by default, expandable to 2 GB. Embedded hardware cryptography handles VPN acceleration, and the platform supports up to 250 Cisco Unified SRST sessions and 150 Unified CCME sessions.

The router accepts EHWIC, service module, PVDM3 DSP and ISM modules, with memory upgrades from the MEM-2951 series. Power is 100 to 240 VAC auto-ranging, and an optional AC PoE power supply can supply up to 370 W of end-point PoE. It is well suited to maintaining or replacing existing 2900 Series deployments.
