Description

The Cisco 2921 Voice Bundle is a modular Integrated Services Router from the Cisco 2900 Series (ISR G2), built for small and midsize branch offices that need routing, voice gateway functions, security and WAN connectivity in a single chassis. It supports Cisco Unified CME and SRST, Cisco Unified Border Element and VoiceXML services.

The chassis provides 3 onboard 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet WAN ports (RJ-45), plus one SFP-based GE port that shares with one of the RJ-45 ports. Expansion comes from 4 EHWIC slots (2 double-wide capable), 3 onboard PVDM3 DSP slots, 1 Service Module slot and 1 ISM slot. It ships with 512 MB DDR2 ECC DRAM, upgradeable to 2 GB, and includes embedded hardware-based encryption acceleration. It supports up to 100 Cisco Unified SRST sessions and 100 CME sessions. This SKU includes the IP Base technology package and runs the single Cisco IOS Universal image.

It accepts EHWIC, HWIC, WIC, VIC and VWIC interface cards, PVDM3 DSP modules, SM and SM-D service modules including SRE modules, and Compact Flash storage. The internal AC supply can be swapped for an optional PoE-capable or DC supply, and an external Cisco RPS 2300 can be added for redundancy or PoE boost.

FAQs

Q: Which technology package does this SKU include?
A: CISCO2921-V/K9 includes the IP Base technology package. The router runs a single Cisco IOS Universal image, and the Data, Unified Communications and Security packages are activated separately by software licence.

Q: Can the router be powered over PoE or from DC?
A: The default is an internal AC power supply. An optional PoE-capable internal supply (PWR-2921-51-POE) and a DC supply are available, and an external Cisco RPS 2300 can provide redundancy or PoE boost.

Q: Which interface cards and modules does it support?
A: It supports EHWIC, HWIC, WIC, VIC and VWIC interface cards, PVDM3 DSP modules, SM and SM-D service modules including SRE modules, ISM modules and Compact Flash storage.

Q: Can I use the SFP port and all three RJ-45 ports at once?
A: No. The SFP-based GE port shares with one of the RJ-45 ports, so using the SFP port disables the corresponding RJ-45 port.

Q: How many voice sessions does it support for branch survivability?
A: It supports up to 100 Cisco Unified SRST sessions and up to 100 Cisco Unified CME sessions, with three onboard PVDM3 DSP slots for voice and video processing.
