Description

The Cisco ISR 2911 is a modular second-generation Integrated Services Router from the Cisco 2900 Series, built for branch-office WAN and Internet edge routing. It combines routing with voice, video, security and data services on a single platform. This DC Power variant is aimed at central offices and industrial or NEBS-type environments where DC feeds are standard.

The router provides 3 onboard 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet WAN ports on RJ-45, with no SFP-based ports. Expansion includes 4 EHWIC slots (2 of them double-wide capable), 1 Service Module slot, 1 ISM slot and 2 onboard DSP (PVDM) slots. It ships with 512 MB of DDR2 ECC DRAM by default, embedded hardware-based cryptography and acceleration, and supports up to 50 Cisco Unified SRST and CCME sessions. Concurrent services performance is rated up to 75 Mbps. Power is supplied by the DC power supply (PWR-2911-DC).

It runs a single Cisco IOS Universal image, with technology sets such as Data, Security and Unified Communications activated by software licence. This base SKU does not include the security or UC licence bundles, and HSEC licences are purchased separately. It supports EHWIC, HWIC, WIC, VIC and VWIC interface cards, Service Modules including SRE, ISM-VPN and PVDM3 DSP modules.

FAQs

Q: Does this router include security or Unified Communications licences?
A: No. This base SKU runs the Cisco IOS Universal image, and the Security and Unified Communications technology sets are activated with separate software licences. HSEC licences are also purchased separately.

Q: What power supply does the DC Power version use?
A: It uses the DC power supply, PWR-2911-DC. A DC-PoE supply, PWR-2911-DC-POE, is a separate option.

Q: Can I add a redundant power supply?
A: Yes. External redundancy is available through the Cisco RPS 2300 using the RPS-ADPTR-2911 adapter. The router can also run in PoE boost mode when connected to an external RPS.

Q: Which modules and interface cards does the ISR 2911 support?
A: It supports EHWIC, HWIC, WIC, VIC and VWIC interface cards, Service Modules including SRE, ISM-VPN, and PVDM3 DSP modules.

Q: Does it have SFP ports?
A: No. The 3 onboard 10/100/1000 WAN ports are all RJ-45. Fibre or other connectivity can be added through the EHWIC and Service Module slots.
