Description

The Cisco 2901 is a modular second-generation Integrated Services Router from the Cisco 2900 Series (ISR G2), built for small branch offices that need WAN and LAN routing alongside voice, security, VPN and wireless services in a single 1RU chassis.

It provides two onboard 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet WAN ports on RJ-45, four EHWIC slots (two of which can be used as double-wide EHWIC slots), one ISM slot and two onboard DSP (PVDM) slots. Memory is 512 MB DDR2 ECC DRAM by default, expandable to 2 GB. Embedded hardware-based cryptography accelerates IPSec VPN, and the router supports 35 Cisco Unified SRST sessions or 35 CCME sessions for branch voice survivability. This SKU ships with the IP Base technology set enabled on the Cisco IOS Universal image, with Security, Unified Communications and Data technology sets activated by separate software licences.

It works with ISR G2 EHWIC, HWIC, WIC and VWIC interface cards, PVDM DSP modules and ISM modules. The 2901 has no service module slot, so SRE and SM modules are not supported.
