Description

The Cisco 8500 Series C8550-G2 is a 1 RU fixed-form-factor secure router built on the third-generation Quantum Flow Processor (QFP) ASIC. It is aimed at data centre and colocation WAN aggregation, secure interconnects between data centres and clouds, and edge deployments that need routing, security and SD-WAN capability in one compact chassis.

The C8550-G2 provides 12 x 1/10GE SFP+ WAN ports, with up to 115 Gbps forwarding throughput, up to 48 Gbps IPsec throughput and up to 19 Gbps SD-WAN throughput (all at 512B). It scales to 8M IPv4/IPv6 routes, 10,000 IPsec tunnels, 16M NAT sessions and 8K VRFs. Memory is 32 GB DRAM by default with a 64 GB option, plus 480 GB of default storage. Power options are 750 W AC or 950 W DC. This is the 12-port 1/10GE variant, whereas the C8570-G2 uses 40/100GE ports for up to 190 Gbps forwarding.

The router runs Cisco IOS XE 17.15.4 or later and can be managed on-premises, through infrastructure-as-code, or with Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN Manager 20.15.4 or later. The 12 built-in ports accept SFP and SFP+ optics, and a USB 3.0 Type-C storage port is on the front panel.
