Description

The C8455-G2 is a 1RU fixed-form-factor secure router from the Cisco 8400 Series, built for campus and internet-edge deployments. It combines routing, SD-WAN and next-generation firewall security on a dedicated secure networking processor with hardware-accelerated cryptography and post-quantum cryptography readiness. It suits university campuses, large hospitals and healthcare sites, corporate headquarters and municipal government networks, as well as high-bandwidth applications such as video, research and telemedicine.

This IOS XE model provides 8 x 1GE SFP ports, 2 x 1/10GE SFP+ ports and 2 x 10/25GE SFP28 ports. Cisco rates it at up to 67 Gbps forwarding, up to 31 Gbps IPsec and up to 15.5 Gbps SD-WAN at 512B, with up to 9.5 Gbps of security throughput (EMIX). It ships with 32 GB DRAM and 64 GB storage, with 600 GB and 2 TB storage options. Power supply options are 250W AC, 400W DC or 400W HVDC, and the chassis is only 12 inches deep, which suits small racks.

The router runs Cisco IOS XE and is managed through Catalyst SD-WAN Manager. It starts at IOS XE 17.15.3 and SD-WAN Manager 20.15.3. It accepts SFP, SFP+ and SFP28 optics for 1G, 10G and 25G links.
