Description

The Cisco 8300 Series Secure Router is a modular 1RU router built for large branch sites, with a dedicated secure networking processor for cryptography and deep packet inspection. It brings routing, next-generation firewall security and Catalyst SD-WAN together on one platform, which suits locations serving thousands of users and devices, bandwidth-intensive applications, network segmentation for compliance and advanced threat protection.

This SKU provides 2x 10G SFP/SFP+ and 4x 2.5G mGig RJ45 WAN ports, with two of the mGig ports supporting UPoE+. Expansion comes from one NIM slot, one SM slot and one PIM slot for pluggable 5G or LTE cellular. It ships with 16 GB DRAM, upgradeable to 32 GB, and dual 400W AC internal power supplies. Quoted performance at 512B is 38 Gbps forwarding, 20 Gbps IPsec and 12 Gbps SD-WAN, with 7 Gbps of threat protection on EMIX traffic. It ships preloaded with Cisco Routing OS Essentials, with Advantage options available.

It works with WAN NIMs C-NIM-WAN-2X and C-NIM-WAN-4S, LAN NIMs C-NIM-4X, C-NIM-8T and C-NIM-8M, and the C-SM-16P4M2X switch module. Cellular options include P-5GS6-R16SA-GL, P-LTEA7-NA, P-LTEA7-EAL and P-LTEA7-JP. Minimum software is IOS XE 17.15.3.

Q: What licensing does the C8375-E-G2 ship with?
A: It ships preloaded with Cisco Routing OS Essentials, a perpetual embedded OS licence. Upgrades are the OS Advantage perpetual licence or a Cisco Routing Advantage subscription. For Catalyst SD-WAN deployments, a Cisco WAN Essentials or WAN Advantage subscription is selected separately.

Q: What power supplies does it use?
A: The default is dual 400W AC internal power supplies, PWR-CC1-400WAC. Options are PWR-CC1-760WAC, which adds a 360W PoE budget, and PWR-CC1-500WDC for DC feeds. The 2.5G mGig ports support UPoE+.

Q: Which modules does it support?
A: It takes both NIMs and SMs. WAN NIMs include C-NIM-WAN-2X and C-NIM-WAN-4S, and LAN NIMs include C-NIM-4X, C-NIM-8T and C-NIM-8M. The switch module is C-SM-16P4M2X, and the C-SM-NIM-ADPT carrier fits dual NIMs.

Q: How do I add 5G or LTE?
A: The PIM slot accepts cellular pluggables: P-5GS6-R16SA-GL for 5G SA global, and P-LTEA7-NA, P-LTEA7-EAL or P-LTEA7-JP for LTE Advanced in specific regions.

Q: Can the memory and storage be upgraded?
A: Yes. DRAM can be upgraded from 16 GB to 32 GB with MEM-C83G2-32GB. Storage options are M2USB-32G, SSD-M2SED-600G and SSD-M2SED-2T.
