Description

The Catalyst 8300 Series Edge uCPE is a 1RU universal CPE platform for medium to large branches and remote offices. It runs routers, firewalls and other network functions and applications as guest VNFs on the Cisco NFVIS hypervisor, consolidating several appliances onto one box. It is the successor to the Cisco 5400 ENCS.

This C8300-UCPE-1N20 variant is built on a 20-core Intel Xeon D-2796NT processor at 2.0 GHz. It provides 7 Ethernet ports for WAN or LAN: 4 x 10GbE SFP+ (which also accept 1G optics), 2 x 1GbE RJ-45 and 1 x 1GbE RJ-45. Memory scales from 32 GB to 128 GB across 4 DDR4 DIMM slots. Storage includes a boot disk of up to 2 TB plus 2 x U.2 NVMe slots, for up to 10 TB in total. The chassis is under 18 in. deep with hot-pluggable dual power supplies in AC or DC. It is sold with a mandatory Cisco Catalyst 8000V Edge Software subscription under Cisco DNA Software for SD-WAN and Routing.

It works with Cisco NFVIS 4.12.1 or later, Catalyst 8000V 17.12.1a or later and SD-WAN Manager 20.12.1 or later. Genuine optics include GLC-SX-MMD, GLC-LH-SMD, SFP-10G-SR and SFP-10G-LR.
