Description

The Catalyst 8300 is a 2RU edge router built for medium and large branch offices and regional sites that need high-throughput encrypted WAN connectivity. It suits Catalyst SD-WAN or SD-Routing deployments with integrated security, cloud and internet access, unified communications and container-hosted services.

This 2N2S-4T2X variant gives you 2 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ and 4 x 1 Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 embedded Layer 3 ports, plus 2 SM slots, 2 NIM slots and 1 PIM slot for WAN and service modules. The 12-core platform ships with 8 GB DRAM (upgradeable to 16 or 32 GB) and 16 GB M.2 USB storage. IPv4 forwarding reaches up to 19.7 Gbps and IPsec throughput up to 18.9 Gbps with 1400 byte packets, or 9.3 Gbps IMIX. Dual power supplies are standard.

Catalyst 8300 platforms use a Cisco DNA Software subscription with Cisco Smart Licensing, and the tier is selected at order time. The router requires Cisco IOS XE 17.3.2 or later and works with Cisco SM and NIM modules.

A: Catalyst 8300 platforms are sold with a Cisco DNA Software subscription, Enterprise Agreement or MSLA, using Cisco Smart Licensing with a Smart Account. Tiers include Catalyst Routing Essentials, Cisco DNA Essentials and Cisco DNA Advantage, chosen at order time rather than fixed by the hardware SKU.

Q: Which power supplies does the 2RU Catalyst 8300 use?
A: The 2RU chassis uses PWR-CC1-650WAC (650 W), PWR-CC1-1000WAC (1000 W, 500 W PoE budget), PWR-CC1-650WDC (650 W DC) or PWR-CC1-650WDCR (650 W DC, NEBS reversed airflow). At least one PoE-capable supply is needed to enable PoE on NIM and SM modules.
