Description

The Catalyst 8200 Edge uCPE is a 1RU x86-based universal CPE platform for branch virtualisation. It runs the Catalyst 8000V routing VNF on the NFVIS hypervisor, so SD-WAN edge routing, security VNFs and business or analytics applications can share one box at small and lean branch sites. It is also positioned for 5G/LTE wireless WAN and Secure Direct Internet Access.

This C8200-UCPE-1N8 variant has an 8-core Intel CPU, one NIM slot and one PIM slot, and six 1GE ports made up of four RJ45 copper ports and two SFP ports. It supports up to 64 GB of DRAM, a default M.2 SSD upgradable to 2 TB M.2 NVMe, and a 2.5-inch SATA bay for up to 4 TB. Throughput reaches 1.85 Gbps IPsec (1400 B) in SD-WAN controller mode, with 500 SD-WAN overlay tunnels. It uses an internal 100 W AC power supply and is offered with a Cisco DNA Software subscription using Cisco Smart Licensing.

It works with a range of NIMs including NIM-ES2-4, NIM-ES2-8, NIM-ES2-8-P and NIM-LTEA-EA, and with PIM LTE modules such as P-LTEA-LA. Memory options include MEM-C8200-8GB, 16GB and 32GB, and the 19-inch rack kit is C8200-RM-19-1R.

Q: Does the C8200-UCPE-1N8 need a licence or subscription?
A: Yes. The Catalyst 8200 Edge uCPE is offered with a Cisco DNA Software subscription, Enterprise Agreement or Managed Service Licensing Agreement, using Cisco Smart Licensing.

Q: Can it provide PoE?
A: Not on its own. PoE is added with a PoE NIM such as NIM-ES2-8-P, which requires a PoE power supply.
