Description

The ISR 3945 UCS Express bundle pairs a Cisco 3945 ISR G2 router with a Services-Ready Engine (SRE 900 or SRE 910) x86 blade, the SRE-V virtualisation licence and IMC Express blade management. It puts routing, compute and virtualisation into one branch-office chassis, which suits lean sites that need to host essential local services such as Active Directory, DHCP/DNS, file and print, point-of-sale, EMR and inventory applications on virtual servers inside the router.

The bundle is a single-SRE configuration with 4 GB of ISR DRAM and 768 MB of ISR Compact Flash. The SRE 900 or SRE 910 blade uses an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86 GHz dual-core CPU, 4 GB of DRAM as standard, two 500 GB SATA drives, three Gigabit Ethernet ports and one external USB port. The SRE-V permanent licence is included and provides a bare-metal hypervisor based on VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) 4.1. The bundle contains no EtherSwitch module and no WAAS.

The Multigigabit Fabric backplane switch links the SRE blade to the LAN without extra cabling, and IMC Express provides lights-out management independent of the IOS process. The bundle requires Cisco IOS Software Release 15.1(4)M or later and is compatible with Cisco EtherSwitch EHWICs and service modules that use the MGF backplane. The 3945E does not support IMC Express.
